HELP · DEFINITIONS

Understand the screen without a manual.

ValixData is designed for near-zero learning curve. This page explains every customer-facing ValixData term in plain English. Industry-standard language is used wherever possible; product-specific terms are defined here and in context.

ValixData usability standard: a first-time user should understand what a number is, what period it covers, whether it is live/reference/demo, where it came from, and why it is being shown—without contacting support.

Professional desk

Your role-specific ValixData workspace. It brings together the indicators, changes, news, upcoming events and sources most relevant to that job.

The desk is designed around the work of the role, not around a generic database.

Key indicator

A number or calculated measure that helps describe an important condition for your role.

Some indicators come directly from an official source; others are transparent ValixData calculations built from sourced data.

Current value

The latest value available for that indicator on the desk.

Always check the nearby status and source if the timing of the value matters.

Change

How much an indicator moved over the period shown.

A positive change is not automatically good and a negative change is not automatically bad; meaning depends on the indicator.

Current status

A plain-language description such as improving, stable, elevated, mixed or deteriorating.

Status summarizes the indicator; it does not tell you what decision to make.

Review priority

High, Medium or Low indicates which currently visible items deserve attention first.

It is a sorting aid based on the size/state of visible changes, not a risk rating or recommendation.

Since Last Review

A comparison with the last version of the desk saved on this browser/device.

Before account-based history is live, this comparison is local to the current device and browser.

Today's Review

A count of items grouped as Important, Watch or Background based on the visible changes on the desk.

It helps direct attention; it is not a financial-materiality determination.

Today's Review List

The short list of items ValixData puts in front of you first for the current desk.

It is a review order, not an instruction to act.

Differences Only

Temporarily hides quieter indicators so you can focus on what changed most.

Turn it off to return to the full view.

3-Minute / 10-Minute / Deep Dive

Three levels of detail for the same desk: fastest overview, expanded review, or full analysis.

Changing the view does not change the underlying data.

Nova

ValixData’s automatic briefing service. Nova organizes what changed, why it may matter, what to watch next and relevant news for the desk.

Nova is designed to prepare the first briefing without requiring you to write a prompt.

Aria

ValixData’s on-demand explanation assistant for the data and context available to your role.

Aria helps explain the evidence; the professional remains responsible for decisions.

Priority news

News ranked for relevance to the professional desk rather than displayed as a generic headline feed.

Where available, stories are connected to the indicators or topics they may affect.

Upcoming events / catalysts

Scheduled releases or events that could change the conditions shown on the desk.

Examples can include economic releases, earnings, regulatory dates or industry events, depending on the role.

Exception

An item that stands out from its normal or recent pattern and deserves review.

An exception is a flag for attention, not proof that something is wrong.

Mixed signals

Important indicators are moving in different directions instead of reinforcing one another.

Mixed signals are a reason to inspect the underlying data rather than rely on one headline number.

Aligned signals

Several important indicators are moving in a broadly consistent direction.

Alignment strengthens context but still does not prove causation.

Source

The organization, dataset or approved feed from which the underlying information comes.

ValixData shows source information so users can verify important data.

Freshness / updated

How recently the underlying value or source was refreshed.

A newer timestamp is not necessarily a more authoritative source; cadence depends on the dataset.

Live

A production-connected value currently retrieved from its approved source.

Live does not necessarily mean tick-by-tick; update frequency depends on the source.

Reference

A verified value or baseline shown for context but not represented as a current live feed.

Reference values are labeled so they are not mistaken for live market data.

Demo / sample data

Temporary values used to demonstrate the finished interface while a live data connection is pending.

Demo values must never be treated as current financial or operating data.

Methodology

The documented rules used to calculate, transform, combine or classify data.

ValixData methodology is intended to make calculated indicators understandable and auditable.

Download Sources & Data

Downloads the supporting values, statuses, source labels and visible priority news currently shown on the desk.

This was called “Evidence Pack” in early development versions; the clearer customer-facing name is now used.

Brief

A short working summary assembled from items you choose on the desk.

“Add to brief” saves selected visible items on the current device until account-based persistence is available.

What am I missing?

A quick scan of the current screen that highlights the largest visible change, conflicting directions and available priority news.

It uses only what is currently shown; it does not claim to search hidden or private data.

Decision support

Information designed to help a professional understand conditions and make their own judgment.

ValixData does not execute transactions or take consequential decisions for the user.

Core desk

A profession desk with an explicit role-specific indicator configuration in the current product architecture.

Core does not mean every source is already a live production feed.

Preview desk

A profession desk whose specialized indicator coverage is still being completed.

Preview desks use only clearly labeled data and do not pretend an unrelated role’s indicators belong to that profession.

Arrange my desk

Lets you reorder, pin first, or hide ValixData indicators so the desk matches the way you work.

The arrangement is saved in this browser on this device. It does not upload or store your company data.

Personal workspace

Your chosen arrangement of ValixData indicators on a professional desk.

Personal workspace layout is a presentation preference, not a separate copy of the underlying data.

Working brief

A short collection of ValixData indicators you choose from the current desk for copying into your own workflow.

It contains only ValixData information already visible to you and is kept in this browser on this device unless you copy or export it.

Custom reports

ValixData does not provide an unrestricted private-data report builder in the core product.

This avoids unnecessary custody of customer documents or proprietary internal data. Standard ValixData briefs and exports remain available.

Earlier development terms renamed for clarity.

These names may appear in older internal documentation or screenshots. The customer-facing product now uses the clearer wording on the right.
